More importantly, she reminds him that he is still the love of her life.<\/p><p>The couple moved to Arabella of Red Oak in April 2023 after Jerry V.\u2019s Parkinson\u2019s disease progressed and daily life at home became more difficult. She serves as an Arabella Ambassador, supports the resident council as secretary, and sings in the Arabella Choir.<\/p><p>Even while managing her own health, including regular dialysis treatments, she continues to stay involved and connected with those around her.<\/p><h2>Honoring Love Through a Miracle Moment<\/h2><p>In February, Arabella of Red Oak honored Carmelita and Jerry through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.civitasseniorliving.com\/arabella-of-red-oak\/our-passion\/miracle-moments\/\">My Miracle Moment<\/a> program with a wedding renewal and a celebration of Carmelita\u2019s heart transplant anniversary, which she calls her second birthday.<\/p><p>Jerry often shares, \u201cI had my wife\u2019s old heart, and now I have her new heart.\u201d<\/p><p>The celebration recognized not just their milestones, but their continued devotion through life\u2019s challenges.<\/p><h2>Memory Care Support for Families in Red Oak<\/h2><p>As Jerry\u2019s Parkinson\u2019s progressed, he transitioned to The Cottage, where he received specialized memory care support.
