She began in the 1960s and never looked back, serving in a variety of roles, including running the hospital\u2019s gift shop. For Eileen, the gift shop wasn\u2019t just a retail corner. We had fun while doing something that mattered.\u201d<\/p><p>Eileen officially retired from volunteering in 2015 at the age of 89. But true to her spirit, her definition of retirement doesn\u2019t mean sitting still. Since moving to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.civitasseniorliving.com\/harvest-of-roanoke\/\">Harvest of Roanoke<\/a> in Roanoke, TX, in January 2024, Eileen continues to be a bright presence \u2014 always the first to show up to community activities and cheer on others, including a recent visit from the Byron Nelson High School cheerleaders.<\/p><p>When the squad dropped by for a patriotic craft event, Eileen lit up. \u201cThey were all so enthusiastic. It gave me hope seeing young women taking time to connect and give back,\u201d she said, proudly posing with them for a group photo.<\/p><p>Her message to younger generations about getting involved? \u201cFind a need you\u2019re passionate about, and give your all to serve. If you can do that, you\u2019ll never regret the time you gave.\u201d<\/p><p>Now nearing her 100th birthday this December, Eileen is still finding ways to encourage those around her. Her life is a testament to the quiet power of showing up: for people, for your community, and for the small moments that often mean the most.<\/p><p>\u201cEileen reminds us all that staying connected and involved isn\u2019t just good for the soul.
