John, from Connecticut, served in the Navy as a Seabee, part of the construction battalion. One day, a mutual friend set up a double date, but John already had plans with another woman. Thanks to some friendly persuasion, he canceled that date and joined the group.<\/p><p>Meanwhile, Jane had just been temporarily assigned to a different phone company district and was invited by a coworker to the same double date. Before the night kicked off, John called the operator line to cancel his first date. And Jane answered. She overheard him canceling and later realized that the man she was about to meet was the same one who\u2019d just called.<\/p><p>When Jane brought it up during the date, John was caught off guard but honest. What began as an odd coincidence turned into a friendship and, over time, something much deeper.<\/p><p>\u201cWe talked all night and just clicked right away,\u201d Jane told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ketk.com\/community\/east-texas-live\/an-east-texas-couple-celebrates-over-60-years-of-enduring-love\/\">a reporter with KETK<\/a>. \u201cI never dreamed I\u2019d go on a blind date and end up marrying him.\u201d<\/p><p>\u201cIf I had to do it all over again, I\u2019d do it twice,\u201d John added.<\/p><p>\u201cJohn and Jane\u2019s story reminds us that sometimes, life\u2019s best connections start with a phone call and a little good timing,\u201d said Rob Jones, Executive Director of The Hamptons of Tyler. \u201cFate was definitely what brought John and Jane together through a few unexpected turns.
