Retirement opened a new chapter for Robbie C., who recently discovered an unexpected passion for painting at Elk Creek Assisted Living and Memory Care. Having never picked up a brush before joining the resident-led Art Throbs Club, the 95-year-old soon found herself drawn into a world of color, creativity, and calm.
Over the last several years, she has refined her skills in both painting and drawing. Currently, she creates each piece freehand, working from a simple print for inspiration. Her collection now includes a variety of landscapes and nature scenes that highlight not only her talent but also her dedication to lifelong learning.
When asked what keeps her inspired, Robbie shares, “It relaxes me because I enjoy doing it.”
No prior experience deters her from mastering the medium. Robbie proudly displays her 18 (and counting) beautiful pieces of artwork throughout her home and community.
“What Robbie has accomplished is remarkable,” said Theresa Thomas, Executive Director. “She reminds us that it’s never too late to discover a new passion and embrace it wholeheartedly. Her creativity encourages all of us here at Elk Creek to try something new.”
