TCU Nursing Students Train at Fort Worth Senior Community

More than 130 Texas Christian University nursing students traded textbooks for bingo cards and shadowing shifts at a Fort Worth senior living community.

A Hands-On Introduction to Senior Living

The Grandview of Chisholm Trail hosted an entire cohort of TCU School of Nursing students for assisted living clinical rounds. Students attended activities, shared lunch with residents, and shadowed team members across the community.

The clinical rounds gave future nurses a ground-level view of working in senior living, from daily programming to one-on-one time with residents. The partnership also opened a window into a career path many students had not previously considered.

Inside Daily Life at the Community

Nursing students moved beyond textbook learning and into real interactions with older adults. They asked questions, listened to life stories, and saw how team members support residents across both assisted living and memory care.

“Opening our doors to this opportunity allowed us to show future nurses what senior living really looks like up close,” said Levi Malone, Sales Specialist for The Grandview of Chisholm Trail. “The students brought fresh perspective, thoughtful questions, and a lot of kindness. Our residents already miss them.”

Caring for The Greatest Generation

The Grandview of Chisholm Trail hopes the partnership introduces a new generation of nurses to working with older adults in senior living. Many students left an imprint on both their own careers and the residents they met during clinical rounds.

Building Tomorrow’s Senior Care Workforce

Clinical partnerships help bridge the gap between nursing education and senior care. Future nurses leave with a clearer picture of what assisted living and memory care really look like, while residents gain new faces, fresh questions, and a generation of nurses better prepared to serve them.
