Residents of Arabella of Longview recently welcomed student performers from Hallsville ISD for a spring choir concert, part of the senior living community’s ongoing intergenerational programming.
Kids from both Hallsville Junior High and High School choirs visited the seniors to share selections from their spring repertoire. The Hallsville choir program includes a range of vocal groups, including Tenor-Bass Choir, Treble Choir, Mixed Choir, and the Varsity Choir. Students regularly participate in state competitions, regional auditions, and concerts throughout the year.
The older adults gathered to hear the students sing a variety of pieces. After the performance, some took time to speak with the students or thank them directly. The special moment was also highlighted on CBS 19.
“Moments like these remind us of the deep joy that comes from connecting generations,” said Paula Matthews, Activities Director of Arabella of Longview. “When students share their talents with our residents, they’re not just performing; they’re building bridges between age groups, sparking memories, and creating a sense of belonging that uplifts everyone involved.”
