Arabella Communities Teamed Up to Support East Texas Families
Residents and team members from Arabella of Kilgore and Arabella of Longview prepared and delivered food boxes to support East Texas families.

Residents and staff at Arabella of Kilgore Senior Living joined their sister community, Arabella of Longview, to organize a hands-on food drive supporting neighbors across East Texas. The collaborative effort culminated on Monday, November 24, 2025, when both teams packed and delivered food boxes to local organizations serving families in need.

The communities delivered donations to area food banks, including the Hiway 80 Rescue Mission in Longview and Helping Hands of Kilgore. Each box was filled with essential food items and carefully transported by residents and team members, turning the project into an active experience rather than a simple drop-off donation.

Residents embraced every step of the process, which deepened the impact of their efforts. Packing items at the table and watching boxes arrive at local organizations allowed them to connect daily life in the community with the needs of their neighbors.

“Our residents enjoy making a visible difference in the neighborhood,” said Wilda Mathis, Executive Director of Arabella of Kilgore. “Seeing their efforts directly support families is something that stays with us all.”

Transforming Community Spirit Into Action

This food drive reflected the shared values of Arabella of Kilgore and Arabella of Longview, encouraging residents to stay engaged with their local communities. In joining forces, the two senior living communities expanded their reach and reinforced the idea that giving back is most powerful when it’s done collectively. Events like this are a wonderful reminder that compassion and service are at the heart of life in our Arabella communities.
