Arabella of Kilgore, a senior living community, located at 2103 Chandler St, Kilgore, TX, created a special moment for one of their residents in November.
A respected author and beloved community member, Ms. Elwyn wrote “Cooking with Mimi” years ago. She has significantly impacted cooking for senior citizens and is known throughout the neighborhood. Her cookbook, filled with tasty recipes, sold over 3,000 copies after its initial release.
Arabella of Kilgore recently honored Ms. Elwyn with a lovely surprise celebration on the premises. Residents, team members, and her former Kilgore College students attended the event. Fans of her cookbook were also in the crowd. Many visitors brought copies for Ms. Elwyn to sign, and everyone was excited to learn that Ms. Elwyn and the event were also recognized by local TV station KETK.

Ms. Elwyn was interviewed by KETK and told them that signing copies of her book brought back happy memories from when it was first released. “Helping other people does something for me,” she explained. “It makes me feel good if I could help them in any way to be happy.”
“It’s quite easy to forget to be happy and to begin to worry about this ache and this pain,” she added. “That’s not what life’s all about.”
