One particularly exciting and rewarding role is that of an Activities Director.

As an Activities Director, you’ll have the chance to plan and coordinate events, outings, and activities for seniors. These activities can range from art classes and gardening to movie nights and museum visits.

By planning engaging and stimulating activities, you’ll be helping seniors stay active and social, which can promote overall well-being.

Missouri City Seniors and Team Members Having More Fun Than Ever

At The Avenues of Fort Bend, Christopher is shaking things up and bringing new and exciting activities to the community. The residents love spending time together and participating in activities that Christopher plans, from creating stained-glass artwork to going to the theater and having picnics in the park.

He started as the Assistant Wellness Director and later transitioned to the Activities Director in March 2023.

Christopher’s job is to coordinate activities and outings for the residents of our Assisted Living and Memory Care community. He is excellent at connecting and engaging with residents.

He organizes a variety of activities, such as:

The residents love spending time together, whether out in the sun planting fresh herbs and flowers or creating new artwork inside.

Christopher’s creativity knows no bounds. Recently, he and the residents created stained-glass artwork using picture frames and colored tissue paper. The imagination is showcased alongside the windows for the sun to catch.

As part of the Art Throbs Club and Outreach Program, residents create art or goodies for families and kids outside the community. Residents recently made Easter-themed goody bags for the kids to enjoy during a family event.

Christopher’s creativity extends to outings too! The residents recently enjoyed the Miller Outdoor Theatre, where they watched the performance of The Jungle Book and had a picnic in the park. It was a huge hit, and the residents have been talking about it ever since.

Christopher always looks for new and exciting activities to add to the community’s calendar.

He likes to gather information from the residents about possible future activities and looks around the area for outings or DIY projects the residents might enjoy. Monthly activity calendars are created before the end of the month in preparation to hand out to the residents at the beginning of the month.

Christopher’s enthusiasm for his job is contagious, and residents of The Avenues of Fort Bend always have smiles on their faces.
