Every Monday morning, something quiet but powerful happens inside Harvest of Roanoke. A small group of residents gather for a guided yoga session that’s helping them stay grounded, flexible, and connected.
Led by Activity Director Lynne Rayson and guided by video instruction from Lauren of the popular Senior Shape YouTube channel, the class — which ranges from 64 to 100 years old — brings a thoughtful blend of stretching, strength-building, and breathwork tailored for aging bodies.

Each session includes a mix of physical movement and breathing exercises that support flexibility, relieve stress, and promote overall wellness. With a growing turnout of regular participants, the class is becoming a weekly anchor for both movement and mindfulness.
“This isn’t about perfection or poses. It’s about progress,” said Rayson, who draws on her years of yoga experience to modify movements and support safe, individualized practice. “We want our residents to feel stronger in their bodies and more peaceful in their minds. Yoga gives us both.”
