Ledgestone Senior Living celebrates the beauty of aging with a portrait series that highlights each resident’s unique spirit and style.

For many older adults, it’s rare to find themselves in front of a camera—especially in a moment that’s all about them. That’s what motivated Ledgestone Senior Living to turn the lens toward its residents in a one-of-a-kind portrait series designed to capture confidence, character, and the quiet beauty of aging.

Women from Ledgestone Senior Living stepped into the spotlight for a full day of professional photos, style, and self-expression. The event — dubbed The Empress Portraits — gave participants a chance to embrace their individuality boldly and creatively. Each resident received personalized hair and makeup treatment, capped off with mimosas and plenty of laughs.

“You get up and think, ‘What am I doing today?’” resident Ellie B. told CBS Austin during their visit covering the photoshoot. “I love this!”

Ruby Jean Photography, a Maine-based photographer, inspired the idea. She is the creator of the Goddess Session, which “celebrates the strength, wisdom, and beauty of women aged 70+”. Ledgestone partnered with local photographer Naomi Loghry, who donated her time and services for the event. Over 30 residents were photographed!

“I’m on cloud nine right now,” Naomi also told the news outlet. “I don’t know how to describe it! I’m almost in happy tears just hearing their reaction and how it made them feel inside and out.”

A staging area with light refreshments was available for participants throughout the day, offering a comfortable space to prepare and relax between photo sessions. Needless to say, each person who was involved in this lofty project was elated.

“I saw how this project made everyone feel valued,” Katy Starr, Community Relations Director, also told CBS Austin. “They smiled, their eyes lit up—it was beautiful to watch.”
