Specialized Memory Care Through Pathways

We use the proven Pathways System with Select Rehabilitation’s program. This approach combines Pathways with our GEMS program, both built on the Allen Cognitive Level system and Teepa Snow’s GEM approach. Our simple color system – green, yellow, and red – helps us know where each resident is so we can provide them personalized attention and care.

Our certified dementia practitioners work with therapists to create special care plans for each person. We explore the best ways to support and compensate for any skills they may have lost. Each resident receives care tailored to their exact needs, not a one-size-fits-all plan.

After working with therapy, residents get special activity programs designed to keep them engaged and make life better. This team approach makes sure everyone uses the same helpful methods every day.

Enticing Memory Care Dining Experiences

In The Cottage, food is about both nutrition and the experience. We serve freshly made meals with warm, friendly service and offer a resident-centered menu designed to abide by the latest nutritional guidelines in physical and cognitive wellness. Individualized dietary monitoring and tailored menu selections are provided as well according to the preferences of our residents.

In The Kitchen is an engaging piece of our activities program. Residents will help create a meal by shucking corn, mixing dough, or whisking batter to complete the selected dish. Our Austin Memory Care Coordinator will then take the ingredients into the kitchen to complete the food or snack for everyone to enjoy. We also have Spice Club where residents smell the ingredients and discuss which recipes they could make or have made.

Each well-appointed suite or private room is created to be both accessible and easily navigable and opens onto a spacious yet cozy living area. We encourage residents to bring personal belongings and make their new residence a home.

The Cottage features its own beautiful courtyard as well as a personal kitchen. Common area decorations are specifically chosen to inspire personal engagement, joyful tales, and happy memories. There are also plenty of cozy gathering spaces to encourage social interaction.
