Miracle Moments are designed to be personalized experiences catering to each resident’s unique interests and passions. We work closely with family members to help plan these surprises by considering residents’ preferences, hobbies, and life experiences. This ensures that our signature resident program is meaningful, heartfelt, and unforgettable.
The Latest Legacy Oaks of Midlothian Miracle Moment
On March 9, 2023, we had an extraordinary celebration to recognize one of our beloved residents, Mr. Bill.
Mr. Bill is not just any ordinary resident. He is a veteran who served in the Air Force for 22 years and was also a former fire and rescue worker.
To show our appreciation for his service, we decided to celebrate him in a big way. We planned a surprise ceremony to honor him, which was attended by many people from our community and the Midlothian Fire Department.
The day was supposed to include a ride along for Mr. Bill, but then it was discovered that he wouldn’t be able to go. Instead, the fire department brought their trucks to the community to create an unforgettable experience for him. The feeling of being one of the guys again brought a smile to Mr. Bill’s face that will stay in our hearts.
During the ceremony, Mr. Bill made an emotional statement acknowledging the fire department as his brothers. The room was filled with other veterans who call Legacy Oaks of Midlothian home. It was heartwarming to see them lined up to show their support and appreciation for their fellow veteran during this moment.
“The support from the community was overwhelming,” shares Activities Director Lauren Sallee. “If I had to pin down the Miracle Moment to a minute, it would have been the moment where two of his fellow veterans thanked him for his service and called the other veterans to stand and to salute. To see a room full of veterans stand and salute Mr. Bill was a moment many will never forget.”
It was indeed a Miracle Moment and a true moment of honor. Mr. Bill was surrounded by what meant the most to him: his family and brothers from the fire department and military service.
Our Community Relations Director, Nelly Cabeen, shared her thoughts on the celebration by saying, “Bill is a very caring and emotional person. It was such a treat to shower this gentleman with love and care.”
