At The Bluffs of Flagstaff, every resident’s dream matters — no matter how big or small.
For Christie E., a kind and humble soul with a gentle smile, that dream was a first-time visit to one of the world’s natural wonders: the Grand Canyon.
Born in 1960 and raised in Lake Havasu City, Christie spent most of her life in Arizona. Yet, despite living so close to the Grand Canyon, she had never seen its breathtaking beauty in person.
In retirement, Christie now receives daily support with medications, appointments, and routines at The Bluffs. While she doesn’t have close family nearby, she’s formed meaningful friendships with her neighbors and participates in many activities — always with a warm heart and helping hand.
When The Bluffs of Flagstaff team learned that Christie had never visited the Grand Canyon, they saw an opportunity to create a Miracle Moment. With excitement and care, a special day trip was planned to honor Christie and bring her dream to life.
From a scenic picnic lunch overlooking the Canyon to an awe-inspiring stop at the Grand Canyon IMAX theater, the experience was nothing short of magical. Christie gazed quietly at the vast views, softly repeating, “Oh, you shouldn’t have,” overwhelmed by the kindness and beauty surrounding her.
To make the moment even more special, Executive Director Andy Auteri gifted Christie a cozy Grand Canyon sweatshirt to commemorate the day.
“Miracle Moments often remind us why we do what we do,” said Andy. “Christie’s joy was contagious. We were honored to help her experience something she’d always dreamed of, and it brought us all closer as a community.”
