Two Fine Towns for Active Assisted Living: Allen, TX and Frisco

Table of Contents

If you picture your aging parent spending their retirement years in a generic assisted living home with few activities keeping them busy, it doesn’t have to be that way.

Let’s reframe this: If they need assisted living support, communities like ours provide that, plus on-site amenities like resort-style pools and daily activity calendars. And that’s just the cake. The icing is a desirable location full of senior-friendly attractions they can visit at their leisure.

Ariel Pointe of Sachse Senior Living | Assisted Living in Allen TX
Ariel Pointe of Sachse offers luxury assisted living near Allen, TX.

Ariel Pointe of Sachse is about nine miles west of Plano, TX, and close to two appealing Texas towns — Allen and Frisco. Location matters as much as a senior community’s other features, so you’ll want to know all about these two spots that attract older adults seeking active, fulfilling lifestyles. Both are just north of our modern campus for assisted living.

Allen, TX: So Much for Seniors To Do

With a population of about 112,000, Allen is a testament to thoughtful urban planning; here, tree-lined streets meet modern conveniences. This welcoming city has cultivated an environment where seniors can make rich community connections.

  1. The Courses at Watters Creek has three golf options — an eighteen-hole, nine-hole, and six-hole course, offering options for players of all skill levels. Book tee times online, with prices starting at just $35.
  2. Allen Contemporary Theatre hosts challenging and creative theatrical experiences; visitors sit on bleacher-style, padded chairs arranged for great views, with snacks, water, and wine available. Tickets cost about $20 per person.
  3. Watters Creek Village is a premier, resort-style shopping and entertainment destination spanning 52 acres of lush landscaping. It has over 70 shops, boutiques, and excellent patio dining options.
  4. Allen Heritage Village, a historic attraction, is a park featuring several of Allen’s oldest remaining homes and the historic St. Mary Baptist Church. It recreates Allen from the 1920s and 1930s and is open daily from dawn until dusk.
  5. Connemara Nature Preserve has 72 unspoiled acres worth exploring, with a gentle elevation increase in one section. It’s appropriate for all ages; dogs must be kept on leashes.

Frisco is just 12 miles from Allen, Texas, and approximately 26-27 miles from Sachse, Texas. Let’s head over there.

Activities for Rewarding Senior Living in Frisco

Here’s what our residents and team members love most about Frisco:

  1. Texas Sculpture Garden at Hall Park is the largest private collection of contemporary Texas sculpture ever assembled and made available to the public. This four-acre outdoor gallery has over 40 works of art and a garden with walking trails, lakes, and fountains specially designed to complement the art.
  2. Frisco Heritage Museum is an 18,000-square-foot museum that showcases the area’s history from its early days as a railroad town to the present. It has a turn-of-the-century printing press, vintage automobiles from 1915 and 1930, and “The Heritage Theater” showing old movies.
  3. Stonebriar Centre is an elegant, enclosed Frisco shopping mall with numerous dining and shopping options. It also has a movie theater.
  4. The Star (Ford Center at The Star) is the Dallas Cowboys’ world headquarters and practice facility, featuring tours, shopping, dining, and special events.
  5. Museum of the American Railroad/TrainTopia offers historic locomotives and railroad cars, including the largest steam locomotive ever built, with indoor and outdoor exhibits. (The National Videogame Museum and Sci-Tech Discovery Center are in the same building for the grandkids!)

These activities for seniors in Frisco and Allen are well worth the trips.
