Residents at The Bluffs of Flagstaff are discovering that history can be an exciting journey. The community recently launched the “Threads of Time” History Club, turning a morning of maps, old bills, and films into an exploration of Flagstaff’s past.

During the meetings, residents bring their own historical objects to share. One participant even brought a viewfinder with films of local locations, while others contributed packets of bills from efforts to revive the Pioneer Museum. These items sparked conversations about the city’s landmarks, parks, and the stories hidden in everyday streets.
“Watching neighbors pull out old photos and talk about local history is more than just learning — it’s about seeing how the community has grown through the years,” said Andy Auteri, Executive Director at The Bluffs of Flagstaff. “These gatherings remind us that the past is full of stories worth sharing, and everyone has their own to tell.”
Residents enjoy reflecting on Flagstaff’s evolution and discovering new details about familiar places. Each story and artifact shared creates a deeper understanding of the city, highlighting the unique experiences of the people who live there. These sessions also provide residents with the opportunity to connect over shared memories and insights, thereby strengthening the sense of community.
The History Club meets twice a month, on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m. Members are preparing a series of presentations to delve even deeper into Flagstaff’s past, offering opportunities to learn, share, and celebrate the city’s history together.
