This Little Mermaid Made Waves with Tyler Seniors

A little mermaid made a big splash when Bullard High School students dressed up and performed songs from The Little Mermaid to residents at The Hamptons of Tyler Senior Living. The visit celebrated a relationship that began when the students adopted resident Wayne H. for Grandparents Day.

The High Schoolers Brought Disney Under the Sea

Residents gathered in the common room to watch the performance, enjoying the students’ costumes, makeup, and talent. The high schoolers brought the underwater world to life with songs and characters that had everyone in Tyler, TX, captivated.

Wayne H. and His Friends Got a Front-Row Preview

“It was sweet to see our residents enjoying the students’ performance,” said Sara Teichgraeber, Activities Director of The Hamptons of Tyler Senior Living. “Mr. Wayne and his friends felt included and celebrated, and it reminded all of us how simple experiences — like watching local students perform — can brighten a day.”

The students also invited residents to attend the full show, an opportunity the community looked forward to experiencing together.

It All Started with a Grandparents Day Adoption

The relationship between the students and Wayne H. began when the high schoolers adopted him for Grandparents Day in September. That initial visit grew into something bigger as the students wanted to share their theatrical talents with their adopted grandfather and his friends.

“Our residents truly enjoyed the preview performance of The Little Mermaid here at The Hamptons,” said Sara. “We were honored that the students invited us to attend the full production at Bullard High School, and their kindness and talent made the experience even more special.”

The Hamptons of Tyler continues to welcome local students and organizations, providing residents with opportunities to interact with the community and enjoy cultural experiences.
