Colorblind No More: Glasses Give The Brooks of Cibolo Resident a Whole New Way to See the World

Table of Contents

J.R. has spent his whole life guessing what colors look like. A longtime resident of The Brooks of Cibolo, a kind and active leader within the ambassadors group, and colorblind from birth, J.R. never knew glasses could actually help him experience the real thing — until now.

Independent Living Activity Director Gabriela Reyna handed J.R. a pair of color-correcting glasses during a community gathering, a surprise that turned into a truly unforgettable moment. The instant he put them on, balloons in the room stopped being just shapes and transformed into clear, distinct colors he could finally see for the first time. Overcome with emotion, J.R. held back tears as his neighbors applauded.
