The Cottage Residents Celebrate Beloved Volunteer’s Birthday

Table of Contents

Ask anyone in The Hamptons of Tyler, a senior living community, who has the biggest heart for its residents — and they’ll probably tell you “Allison”! She’s been volunteering twice a week for over a year, though she has been serving seniors for a decade while she lived in Dallas. And for one special day, the residents turned the tables to give the beloved volunteer extra attention for her birthday.

Allison, who had always had an interest in volunteering, was referred to senior living and memory care by a friend. The rest is history! Currently, you’ll find her every Monday and Wednesday at The Hamptons; she particularly enjoys spending time in The Cottage.

“Those living in memory care are special people who enjoy companionship, love, and most importantly — fun!” she says.

Like most people who selflessly give their time and energy, they never expect anything in return. That’s why Allison was so surprised by her birthday bash.

The Cottage was extra lively, sharing cupcakes, playing a streamer race, and dancing the morning away during music therapy.

The winner of the competition received a coveted hug from the birthday girl (and also Hugs, the Hershey’s chocolate).

“Allison’s kindness and dedication bring so much joy to our residents every week,” Tiffany Clements, Memory Care Coordinator said. “It was heartwarming to see them return the love and celebrate her in such a special way. She is truly part of our family here at The Hamptons of Tyler.”
