This program is ideal for those seniors who need extra support in their transition from hospital to home or for those who are simply lonely, isolated, and needing to engage. It also provides an often much-needed break for caregivers. With Civitas’ respite program, they can look after their own needs with the peace of mind that their loved one is well cared for. Our respite care guests enjoy robust programming and meaningful social interaction in a new setting which can boost their self-esteem and senior independence.

Respite Care
Short-Term Stay
Respite stays are short-term, overnight stays for a few days to a few weeks. Respite care at a senior living community is ideal for seniors that are not strong enough to return home after a hospital stay.
Guests enjoy all services and amenities of our community such as three meals per day including those that accommodate special diets, along with snacks; assistance with personal care such as bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, and incontinence care; medication management; housekeeping and laundry services; transportation to outings and medical appointments; and engaging programming and educational activities. Our staff will coordinate with physicians for health concerns and home health agencies to provide on-site services such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy needs.
Respite care can also serve as a needed break to the caregiver and provides a positive experience for the person receiving the care by letting him or her interact with someone other than the primary caregiver in a safe and supportive environment. By taking time to look after your own needs, including health, exercise and social interaction, you can ensure that you’re able to look after your loved one to the best of your ability and give that person the care that is needed.
Respite stays are based on community availability. Stays are purchased in advance and are defined by a minimum and maximum number of days allowed per stay. The cost per day is a prorated amount, calculated from the individual community’s apartment rental and service fees. Care level services associated with the stay may also apply. No community fee is required for respite stays. Costs associated with respite care are not covered by insurance or Medicare. Fees are payable to the community.

Adult Day Stay
An adult day stay is a planned program of activities in a professional care setting designed for older adults who are isolated and lonely or those that require supervised care during the day for cognitive issues or disabilities. Seniors are able to socialize and enjoy planned activities in a group setting, while still receiving needed health services. At the same time, an adult day stay offers family caregivers a break from the physical demands and stress of providing round-the-clock care while knowing that their loved one is in a safe place. It gives them time to attend to personal needs, work, or simply to rest and relax.
Robust programming and meaningful social interaction can help boost one’s self-esteem and can enhance or maintain your loved one’s level of independence, keeping them living at home longer by relieving caregiver fatigue and delaying your escalation of dependence. Guests have access to all community amenities and services such as meals, including those that accommodate special diets, along with snacks; engaging programming and educational activities; transportation to outings; medication reminders and dispensing; and more. If there is an issue during their stay, guests also have the support of the staff with contacting physicians.
