For Eric W., fast cars have always been a big part of his life. On Saturday, January 3, 2026, the Longhorn Corvette Club brought that enthusiasm to his door at his community Double Creek Assisted Living and Memory Care with an impressive lineup of vehicles for his enjoyment.
The private car show featured 20 Corvettes, along with several race cars and hot rods, parked throughout the campus. Attendees spent the afternoon visiting with Eric and other residents, covering topics like engines, horsepower, racing history, and the engineering details that make performance cars so special. Residents were able to walk right up to these vehicles, examine them closely, and share stories alongside fellow enthusiasts who share the same fervor.
A Celebration Built Around a Lifelong Passion
Eric, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, has always loved racing and high-performance cars. Double Creek staff put the event together through their Miracle Moments program, which centers on residents’ particular interests and life stories.
The afternoon featured a heartfelt tribute to Eric’s military service, honoring his time as a Marine in addition to the passion for cars that has so shaped his life. Other veteran residents joined in, allowing for a wonderful opportunity for them to converse and connect.
“Eric served his country as a Marine and spent his life loving fast cars, so we brought 20 Corvettes to him,” said Mimi Nguyen, Activities Director at Double Creek Assisted Living and Memory Care. “The Longhorn Corvette Club parked race cars and hot rods right outside, and Eric got to spend two hours talking with people who understand why these machines matter. It was a Miracle Moment built around who he is.”
