A Different Path Into Senior Living
During a Chamber Biz Buzz interview, Andy Auteri, Executive Director of The Bluffs of Flagstaff, shared how his background in hospitality shaped his approach to senior living.
With a degree in hotel and restaurant management and culinary arts, Andy did not originally plan to enter the senior living industry. Over time, however, the work became deeply meaningful.

His perspective shifted further when his own family experienced senior living firsthand, giving him insight into what communication and support should look like for residents and their loved ones.
Care That Evolves With Each Resident
The Bluffs of Flagstaff offers independent living, assisted living, and memory care within one community, allowing residents to remain in a familiar setting as their needs change.
As residents transition between levels of care, they continue to see the same caregivers, culinary team members, and leadership team. This consistency helps reduce disruption and supports stronger relationships over time.
Families are also part of the process, with ongoing communication that keeps them informed and involved in their loved one’s care.
Dining and Community Connection in Flagstaff
Dining plays a central role in daily life at The Bluffs. Led by an experienced culinary team, the program reflects both familiarity and variety.
The community also hosts a weekly steakhouse experience open to the public by reservation, creating opportunities for connection between residents and the broader Flagstaff community.
Events, live entertainment, and shared spaces further support an active and social atmosphere throughout the week.
In one example, a maintenance technician brought in his band to perform in the courtyard during happy hour. Residents gathered on balconies and in shared spaces, turning an ordinary evening into a shared experience across the community.
On-Site Support and Therapy Services
One feature that sets The Bluffs of Flagstaff apart is access to on-site rehabilitation services. Residents can receive physical and occupational therapy within the building, either in dedicated spaces or in their apartments.
This approach allows therapy to feel more natural and integrated into daily routines. Whether it’s working through exercises or practicing everyday tasks, residents are supported in ways that help maintain independence and confidence over time.
Moments That Matter Most
Beyond structured programs and services, Andy emphasized the importance of everyday moments.
He shared a story about a resident who enjoyed playing the piano, often drawing a small crowd to listen. While she didn’t always play for her daughter, Andy would send short video clips so her family could still be part of those moments.
“Mom’s having a good day.” That simple message meant everything.
These moments reflect the community’s broader focus: ensuring residents stay connected to the people who matter most, even in small, everyday ways.
Senior Living in Flagstaff That Feels Familiar
At The Bluffs of Flagstaff, care is designed to evolve with each resident while maintaining consistency in relationships, communication, and daily life.
For families navigating these decisions, that kind of consistency can bring a sense of relief, knowing their loved one is supported by people who truly know them.
